This page contains details of SAW selection sets and environments, plus information about where to get them.

SAW selection sets are arrangements of letters, words, symbols, numbers and shapes that can be automatically or manually scanned, item by item, and selected using switches. Groups of related selection sets are called environments. The selection set shown on the left is used for navigating and clicking the pointer.
Items in a selection set can be set to carry out a number of tasks. They can, for example, insert a character on a screen, link to a web page or open another selection set.
We've created some downloadable starter selection sets that cover mouse navigation, Internet Explorer, Outlook Express and word processing (with integrated links to Prophet, PenFriend or WordAid). There's also some AccessMaths selection sets to enable mathematical drawing.
Selection sets can be created with SAW Designer, and we've provided an easy-to-use wizard to help in this process. The screenshot below shows one of its screens.

Each of the items in a selection set is fully configurable in terms of appearance and function. Graphics and speech files can be attached, and items can be grouped.

You don't have to restrict yourself to grid-like layouts. With SAW Designer you can arrange the items in your selection sets anyway you like. Here's a circular arrangement of numbers.
We're developing new selection sets and environments all the time, but if you've designed your own and you would like to share them with others, please contact us and, where appropriate, we would be happy to put them on our website.
