If you work with or support a child with communication difficulties, you can contact us regarding an assessment. We'll usually be working closely with your child's school so that any recommendations we make tie in closely with educational development, but our open referral policy means that anyone can make that initial contact - you don't have to go through your GP or education authority.
Your first point of contact will usually be our administrator, who will put you in touch with the head of our assessment team. You can then talk with her over the phone to see if and how we can help. If it's decided that an assessment is the best course of action (we may offer alternatives), then we'll send information forms to you, your child's school and key therapists. These 'background information' forms will ask for details about your child's medical condition, education, therapy history, likes and dislikes, plus other details relevant to our preparation. We'll also ask for a video of your child so that we can get the fullest possible picture of his or her abilities.
Not all referrals result in assessments, but whatever the outcome, we'll always try to help in the best way we can.
If you would like to talk to us about the possibility of referring your child for an assessment, ring us on 01865 759800, or email info@ace-centre.org.uk
